An international competition is calling for entrants in order to find the world's first "iron dog".
Held in Liverpool, the World Firefighters Games is hosted by the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and this year includes a category specially for the nation's four legged friends.
Dogs can display their skills in a series of competitions involving agility tasks, cross country challenges and casualty water rescue.
Pets can also be entered for individual events such as hurdle races or pulling a floating "casualty" 30 metres in water.
Joanne Stephens, organiser of the event, hopes to draw entrants from different breeds.
"I have put together the different sections to make it appealing to as many dogs as possible," she told K9 Magazine.
"The range of different sections means that dogs of all breeds and sizes can take part and stand a chance of taking home a medal."
Pets can join in the fun from the 24th of August until the 2nd of September in what is the 10th year of the competition.
