Pet cat survives four weeks in chilled food warehouse

A pet cat has survived being trapped in a chilled food warehouse for four weeks by living off frozen peas.

The 12-month-old black and white cat, nicknamed Frosty, lived in temperatures of minus two degrees Celsius in the warehouse in Northamptonshire.

He did not escape completely unscathed as his ears and tail developed frostbite and had to be amputated.

But his diet of frozen peas and moisture from cold food packets seems to have done him no lasting harm.

He was eventually rescued by the RSPCA when he was caught in a humane trap baited with milk, water and cat treats.

The cat is thought to have entered the warehouse on the back of a lorry and was too frightened to leave because of the noise the large vehicles made.

Frosty could now be put up for rehoming, although the Daily Mail reported that a staff member at the frozen food distribution centre had offered to adopt him.ADNFCR-1425-ID-19654072-ADNFCR
