Reward offered for rabbit killer information

Thursday, 14 August 2008
Residents in a Scottish city are being urged to keep their pets inside following a horrific attack on a rabbit.

The perpetrator killed and skinned Misty in an attack that was so shocking an animal rights group has forward a £1,000 reward for information.

Misty was pulled from her hutch in Dundee and subjected to the fatal assault that devastated her 11-year-old owner.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) has offered the cash reward and has voiced its concerns that the attacker could be a danger to the public.

Suzanne Bernard, from the animal rights organisation, said: "According to leading mental health professionals and the police, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat not only to other animals but also to the community as a whole."

Peta was launched in 1980 and considers itself the largest group in the world concerned with animal rights.
